A cloudscape is as fluid as a seascape, with no moment every repeating. Driving around north Devon watching the storm clouds, the lightning was not giving me the opportunity to photograph it. That didn’t matter however. The fun was in the waiting, staring at the drama in the sky as it unfolded before me. I enjoyed creating a few compositions. In this image I love just how much is going on, especially the rotation at the lower portion of the composition. Waiting poised for the lightning strike that never materialised was enough to provide a real moment of silence. Not audible silence, but a silence of the soul.
