During the highest tides, the shore at Welcombe Mouth is completely engulfed by the sea. On this night it had been as high, and the energy of the surf rolling in was immense. This shot was taken well into the blue hour, as darkness began to envelop the bay. I love the mood in this image, and for me it is calming. Seeing the transition of night into day, or day into night is something that is always special by the sea. Often, it feels like the energy of the sea crescendos just before the event. Afterwards, there is a sense of calm. Of course, this could just be my internal emotions playing tricks on me. But, the allure of the ocean is very real.
