Today I took this photo of the trees at Fernworthy Forest after heading to Dartmoor to take photos, despite the heavy cloud and light rain. I like this composition because of the slight clearing that was letting in some light into the otherwise gloomy woodland. I decided on black and white to help convey the mood that I was aiming for.
Composing photos and holding a tripod
I spent hours in the forest and around the Fernworthy stone circle. It was fun trying to hold an umbrella, compose photos and hold the tripod steady; all in gale force winds that were ripping across the moor. I didn’t even get to the reservoir because I was so engrossed in the trees there, which are amazing.
Fernworthy is a great location; I especially can’t wait to return when the weather and light is more favourable, although I like the moody stuff too!
