I love Dartmoor around sunrise, especially while the sun is still below the horizon or obscured by cloud. When it is like this there can often be amazing displays of subtle colour. I had envisaged a shot like this from the north of the whole tor; I still aim to get that as I feel it will me more dramatic. The sun wasn’t playing ball on this day and any potential for colour was looking pretty remote to say the least. As I was heading back up over the tor to go back to my car to switch locations just enough sunlight managed to escape from the cloud veil that lingered on the horizon to embellish the morning sky with a little colour.
The sun finally appeared
Shortly after I took this photo the subtle colours disappeared as the sun finally breached the cloud. The morning turned out pretty good and I went on to take my bluebell photos at Emsworthy as previously blogged.
