I have a huge number of photographs that have not seen the light of day, or even been edited. I took this photo 15 years ago, almost to the day, and remember taking it, loving the effects of light at play. Back then I used to always take a picture if something caught my eye. It is something that I always try to do. Although, I now have more skill to be able to recognise what it is that I like, and how to capture it.
It is easy to fall into the trap of talking yourself out of taking a photograph, especially if it does not fit a label or is outside of your comfort zone. If something catches your eye, I think you should always give it more attention. Even if it takes a while for your brain to catch up, your creative self has spotted something that you can work with. I think that creative vision is something that is always there. The skill is learning to recognise and utilise it.
I would have taken this photo slightly different nowadays, I had to slightly crop it. However, in recent years I would more likely have ignored this scene because it did not fit into travel and landscape. As I said in my previous post, I want to explore my creativity more and limit myself less. The only real limits are often the ones you create for yourself.
