Every time I take photos at Westward Ho! I normally stick to the beach end or the rocks end near the caravan park. I rushed there for sunset the other night with my son Daniel in tow. We could see the sun had dropped beyond Hartland Point, leaving a fantastic band of colour that spanned the horizon. Due to the colour on the horizon, we made haste along the footpath to see the Hartland coastline from the cliffs.
A Band of Vivid Colour
I posted a couple of panoramic photos of Hartland Point and Lundy Island on my Devon website, but saved a more subtle image for posting here. I like this photo because while there is a band of vivid colour, the rest of the scene is already beginning to lose light as the blue hours approach. The motion in the waves; part of a huge tide also looked great.
