Walking through the woodland in the Teign Gorge on Dartmoor while it rained I spotted this small tree. I love its colour and how it contrasts against the backdrop of the forest, I think it is a beach tree of some description. There are a few of them along the riverbank which all look beautiful but are dwarfed by the giant pine trees behind them. I like the position of the trees in this composition although I would have preferred them be more evenly placed. However, I didn’t want to trample on any of the foliage trying to find a more symmetrical image. The composition is still fairly balanced though. I was initially bothered by the bend in the right tree that looks like lens distortion, but this isn’t the case.
My journey as a professional photographer and educator
I feel like this tree stands for me. Now that I have begun my journey as a professional photographer, I feel like a small tree in a big forest. There are amazing photographers out there and I want to be one of them. I want to create my own space in the forest where I can sustain my family, enjoy photography and help others to do the same. I’m planning future workshops and have a few ideas to help and educate others in different ways. As well as my photography skills I have the ability to make the most of your website and online presence. I wonder if this is an area where I can help people, as I try to develop my own space in the photography woodland.
