I’ve have never tried wildlife photography before with that being my sole intent. After getting chronically sick my outlook has changed. I am looking at different ways I can be active in my craft again. If I have learned anything, it is that nobody will miss your photography if you stop sharing it. Those that have followed me for years will have noticed that I have also changed my last name. This combined with my downtime has allowed me to have a complete reset of my creative endeavours.
I want to try wildlife photography among other genres beyond my norm. I like that it lends itself to being able to sit and enjoy watching the world go by while waiting.
Visiting a local spot that is known for having quite a few birds (as I needed all the help I could get). I captured some OK images on a small walk up and down the coastline, and I then rested under a footbridge hoping some birds would land in the river inlet alongside.
I clearly didn’t wait long enough (learned for next time), and after half an hour or so I began walking back to the car. The law of sods presented itself of course; As I walked over the footbridge this little egret flew just over my head and landed right where I wanted just 5 minutes before. Rather than disturb it scrambling back down to my previous low point, I photographed it from the bridge. It was great watching it feeding. This image is one of the ones I captured. I would like to have a lower viewpoint, but it is a good starting point.
