Capturing the motion and energy of waves is something that I often like to do in my seascape photography. I really like the motion in the water in this photo. My regular readers may recognise this composition from a recent blog post. I often take several exposures of one composition if it is something that I like to try to make the most use of light. I think that this image really suits black and white, and I love the mood in it.
It can sometimes be tempting to really push the contrast, blacks and whites when processing images. This doesn’t always work, especially when trying to convey mood. Sometimes darkness can add to a scene, as can the reduction of contrast. I encourage everyone to experiment with their work in embracing darkness as well as light and experimenting with differing contrast levels.
